NASA Astronaut Cleared from Hospital After SpaceX Crew-8 Splashdown, Safely Returns to Houston 28-10-2024

NASA astronaut Matthew Dominick, part of the SpaceX Crew-8 mission, has been released from the hospital and is reported to be in good health following a brief post-splashdown evaluation, according to NASA.

The SpaceX Crew Dragon capsule, named “Endeavour,” successfully completed its journey on Friday morning (Oct. 25), landing off the coast of Florida. This marked the end of the 235-day Crew-8 mission to the International Space Station (ISS).

While the landing itself went smoothly, NASA proceeded with a medical check-up for all four Crew-8 astronauts — including NASA’s Matthew Dominick, Michael Barratt, and Jeanette Epps, as well as Alexander Grebenkin from Roscosmos, the Russian space agency. The evaluation took place at Ascension Sacred Heart Pensacola in Florida. This precautionary measure, NASA stated, was taken “out of an abundance of caution” and underscored their commitment to astronaut safety.

Following the assessment, the astronauts were cleared to travel, with Dominick now back in Houston. All members are reportedly in good spirits and recovering well after their long-duration space mission.
