Reflecting on Garr’s legacy, Kudrow expressed her admiration in a statement to People, saying, “Teri Garr was a comedic acting genius and a profound influence on me and so many others. I feel incredibly fortunate to have worked alongside her.”

Garr first appeared as Phoebe Abbott in Friends Season 3’s 1997 finale, “The One at the Beach.” In this episode, Phoebe Buffay learns that the woman she thought was an old family friend is, in fact, her biological mother. Garr’s role continued in Season 4 in episodes “The One with the Jellyfish” and “The One with Phoebe’s Uterus,” making her a memorable part of the show’s legacy.

Teri Garr’s career started in the 1960s with roles in Elvis Presley classics like Viva Las Vegas and Roustabout. She quickly became a familiar face, landing roles in Star Trek, That Girl, Mayberry R.F.D., and Room 222. Later, Garr appeared in shows like ER, Law & Order: SVU, and Life with Bonnie, and voiced characters in Batman Beyond and What’s New Scooby-Doo.
